Layan Alharthy
Biography
I am a self-taught calligrapher and painter based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. I am known as a graphic designer, product developer, and entrepreneur with a passion for design innovation. I am skilled in developing visual narratives through the lens of business strategy to drive growth. During the day, I work on my MFA from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University and positioned as the creative director at Sela Modern Food Factory, working on product design and marketing. However, at night, my artist hat comes on. I started my artistic journey in 2015 when I began my BBA at the Parsons School of Design when I experimented with Arabic calligraphy and watercolor painting.
Artist Statement
My work explores healing, journey, experience, and self-portraits. Moreover, I captured these themes while being on a journey and seeing the world by living in 5 different countries. I am interested in creating a visual image that represents selfhealing and nature. I believes that inspiration can be taken from nature, which inspires my work, as nature is full of color, shape, and energy.
